This week catalogue giants Kays and Great Universal announced that they are to close their call–centre in Bangalore.
This groundbreaking move resulted from increasing levels of complaints about the standards of service provided by the Indian call–centre. As a result 250 jobs will be returning to the UK and was covered extensively by the Daily Mail (picture) and other national newspapers.
Similarly, Dell Computers announced that it is taking call–centre jobs back to America for the same reasons.
This clearly indicates the power of the consumer and confirms our view that Lloyds TSB must listen to the views of its customers and take serious note of the experiences of those companies now returning call–centre jobs to their home shores.
