<<< back MORI Survey Blow to Bank… [01 May 2004] A MORI Survey commissioned by LTU, but using questions designed by Mori to ensure its independence, has revealed that 49% of Lloyds TSB customers would consider moving to another bank rather than have their banking arrangements transferred to India. This puts 7.8 million Lloyds TSB accounts at risk of closure and presents a significant potential windfall to competitor banks that are committed to the UK. MORI Financial Services (MFS) interviewed a nationally representative sample of 1808 adults aged 16+, face-to-face, across Great Britain between 18th and 23rd March 2004. Here are just two of the questions and the responses they generated. MORI Question: “Thinking about if your bank moved work connected with the management of your account to India. Which one of these statements comes closest to your own point of view?” In response Lloyds TSB customers said… Would make me more likely to consider moving to another bank… 49% Would make me less likely to consider moving to another bank… 2% Would make no difference… 40% Don’t know / No bank account… 9% MORI Question: Lloyds TSB has announced that it is to close a call centre in Newcastle, with approximately 1000 jobs being transferred to India and other call centres around the UK. To what extent do you approve or disapprove of this decision? In response Lloyds TSB customers said… Strongly / Tend To Approve… 5% Neither Approve nor Disapprove… 16% Tend to Disapprove… 27% Strongly Disapprove… 51% Don’t Know… 1% The results of this survey follow hard on the heels of other independent research that reveals poor levels of service in India and exaggerated cost savings. Significantly a number of companies are returning some, if not all, of their operations to the UK. These include Capital One, Dell, AXA, Littlewoods and ShopDirect. Out on the streets this week LTU petitioners continue to receive strong support from Lloyds TSB customers around the country. The pictures opposite are from Bournemouth and a rain soaked Bristol but LTU teams were also out in force in… Fareham Norwich Newcastle Newport Chatham Sheldon Edinburgh Bridgend Gillingham Worthing Peterborough Sunderland Andover Chelmsford Glasgow Swansea Southampton Wolverhampton Scunthorpe Plymouth Warwick Kings Norton Brighton <<< back |
