More Than 150 HR Job Losses As Work Offshored To India
[25 May 2006]
The Bank has announced plans to offshore the work of more than 150 Human Resources Staff to India.

The types of jobs being transferred to Xansa – a company that specialises in transferring work to India – are in the areas of HR Technology; Recruitment, Training and Exit Administration; Staff Information Services; and, most controversially, the HR Call Centre that provides line managers and staff with HR advice and guidance.

The transfer of the HR Call Centre is particularly contentious for staff since it is this that provides
guidance on key staff issues such as Disciplinary, Grievance and Harassment proceedings, and the
management of Long-Term Sickness and Underperformance. Staff can now expect to suffer the very same inferior service that customers using the Bank’s Call Centre in India have encountered.

This will almost certainly further harden staff opposition to the Bank’s already discredited Offshoring Policy.

LTU is concerned that this latest announcement is therefore part of the process of ‘de-professionalisation’ of the HR function within Lloyds TSB.
