<<< back Bank To Offshore 15 More Insurance Jobs To India [07 Feb 2007] Group Operations Senior Management has announced plans to offshore to India 15 Property Administrations jobs based in Tredegar Park, Newport (South Wales). The Bank has said these will transfer to India before the end of June 2007. Senior Management has also said that a further 292 jobs within Group Operations are also being considered for offshoring to India; though it isn’t clear at this stage how many (if any) of these additional jobs are also based at Tredegar Park. The jobs being offshored were part of the 193 that were transferred from General Insurance to the Group Operations business unit in May 2006. In a LTU Newsletter issued at the time 193 Property Administration Staff were transferred to Group Operations, LTU pointed out that: “The Group Operations business unit has a reputation for making jobs redundant shortly after staff are transferred under its control ... often through a process known as ‘Offshoring By Proxy’. This latest announcement - and the fact that Group Operations has said a further 292 of its staff are also facing the prospect of having their jobs offshored to India this year - shows just how accurate LTU’s prediction was. To add further to the uncertainty, Group Operations also announced that it is to close its Service Centre in Peterborough, with the loss of 243 jobs. <<< back |
