<<< back LTU Attends Welsh Call–Centre Awards… [26 Jan 2004] On 22nd January over 500 call–centre employees attended the Welsh Call–Centre Awards ceremony in Cardiff… and LTU was there to applaud them. A significant number of those attending added their names to our petition and praised LTU’s campaign whist bemoaning the lack of any tangible action by other trade unions. At the same day it was being reported that for the first time more call–centre jobs were being lost in Wales than were being created. LTU is fighting hard to ensure that Lloyds TSB does not add to this trend via offshoring. Currently the sector employs 24,000 people in Wales. Welsh Assembly Member Brian Gibbons (pictured top with Peter O’Grady) spent some time talking to the LTU team and is taking a keen interest in the issue of offshoring and any possible threat it may pose to the industry in South Wales. Finally, the quality of Lloyds TSB staff is not in dispute and our sincere congratulations go to Harry Styles, Manager of the Year, of Lloyds TSB in Newport and Kieran O’Brien, Agent of the Year, of Black Horse in Cardiff. <<< back |
